Speech Language Therapy
Successful communication with others is at the heart of every relationship. When an individual has difficulty communicating what he or she thinks, knows or wants, or has trouble sharing ideas, experiences, memories, and personal feelings with others, it can be frustrating and disheartening for everyone in that person's life. No matter how or why an individual's communication is affected, be it due due to articulation difficulties, trouble socially connecting with peers, or difficulty understanding language, we understand how important it is to effectively get to the heart of the problem and improve interpersonal communication. We believe strongly in establishing a solid, positive relationship with each of our clients because we understand that within a trusting relationship, great things happen! Under the thoughtful and nurturing guidance of the therapist, the underlying skills necessary for successful communication will grow, blossom, and develop.
Peer Projects - Therapy from the Heart offers individual speech language therapy to clients of all ages, including infants and toddlers, through young adulthood. Our clinicians come from diverse clinical backgrounds and we feel fortunate to have expertise in several methodologies and clinical areas represented on our team. These include but are not limited to: PROMPT, Thinking Maps®, RDI®, Social Thinking®, Hanen, executive function, reading, early childhood development/early intervention, and sensory processing. Although we hold all of our therapists in the highest regard, we work hard to match individuals with a clinician who will best meet their needs.
Depending on your child’s age and individual needs, we encourage you as parents to join in on sessions. However, whether you are in the therapy room or not, we will provide simple home activities each week to reinforce the skills practiced. We also welcome collaboration and communication with other therapists and teachers in your child’s life.
Specific speech/language areas that we regularly treat include:
Speech Sound Production
Expressive/Receptive Language
Social Communication
Organizational Skills
Reading
