Our Summer Program
We ran our first summer program during the summer of 2013, and are excited to offer this experience again in 2014!
Where
As with last year, this program will take place at our office in the Cummings Center, Beverly
When
The program will run for three weeks in July (weeks of 7/14, 7/21 and 7/28) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week from 8:30 to 12:30
Children can sign up for one, two or three weeks.
Our goals and vision
As with last year, we will be gearing our program toward children in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade, who are interested and eager to be with their peers, but may struggle when it comes to sustaining interaction and play over longer periods of time. We are looking to create a positive experience for children who long to form friendships, yet in natural environments experience obstacles such as anxiety, vulnerabilities with attention, dysregulation, and breakdowns in social cognition.
Here are some things we value and plan to embed in our program:
We will also incorporate concepts from the following programs and methodologies: Michelle Garcia Winner’s Think Social curriculum, Zones of Regulation, The Alert Program, RDI, and Sensory Diet strategies
Composition of groups
In addition to Mary Lou Gagnon and Linda Murphy, we will have highly trained staff who have backgrounds in speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, education, and behavior modification. Children will have both large group and small group experiences throughout the day.
Cost
The cost of our program will be $450 per week.
If you are interested, please contact us and we will send you a registration form as soon as they are ready.
Feel free to contact Linda or Mary Lou with any questions!

Here are some things we value and plan to embed in our program:
- successful peer interaction opportunities
- fun activities where we capitalize on spontaneous peer connections and laughter
- sensory/movement activities to support attention and participation
- opportunities for fine motor development
- opportunities for expressive/receptive language development
- practice with relaxation strategies/coping strategies when feeling stress
- practice using social thinking and social thinking vocabulary
- cooperative games and other teamwork activities
- special events each Thursday where we invite a special guest to provide the children a unique experience in which they can learn and laugh together. Special guests last year included Jenny the Juggler, Curious Creatures, and Rob Surette of Amazing Hero Art.
